What is Fibrox mineral fiber?
Fibrox mineral fiber is an inorganic, glassy material spun at high temperatures from molten minerals. Through this patented three-step process—melting, fiberization and collection — Fibrox mineral fiber out-performs and reduces cost compared to traditional insulation, filler and reinforcement materials. By melting high purity slag and mineral ores in a "state of the art" electric arc furnace, Fibrox produces world-class mineral fiber products that meet and exceed the demands of today’s sophisticated applications.
How can Fibrox fiber be used?
Fibrox products are used in a wide variety of industrial and
commercial applications. The white color, high-fiber content (low shot), and temperature operation range of Fibrox mineral fiber make it an excellent alternative to ceramic refractory, asbestos, glass, aramid and other synthetic fibers.
Some applications for Fibrox mineral fibers include the following:
- heat shielding
- high temperature gaskets and seals
- thermal insulation
- acoustic insulation
- gaskets, sealants, and coatings
- chimney insulation
- composite reinforcement applications (friction materials, coating, FRP, etc.)
- refractory products (high temperature paper)
- mat and vacuum formed shapes
- horticultural products
- asphalt reinforcement (SMA)
- fire logs for gas fireplaces
Fibrox... Value, Reliability, Quality
Fibrox mineral fiber is one of the lowest-cost, man-made fibers available today. There is a vast and economical source of raw materials used in our manufacturing process, and since the fiber is produced in large quantities (assuring you of a continued flow of supply), production costs are kept down and savings are passed on to you.
Fibrox mineral fibers are manufactured with stringent quality control procedures to ensure that the fiber’s durability and consistency surpass your product requirements. Yet, the durability of the fiber does not rescind the product’s flexibility that makes it adaptable to your special needs. The quality of our low shot mineral fibers has proven to surpass that of many traditional fibers.
As a superior filler or reinforcement, Fibrox® mineral fiber is exceptional for many applications requiring thermal, acoustic or reinforcement enhancements and offers you important advantages in performance, value and quality.
