Armstrong World Industries
In 2008, Armstrong World Industries, the leading international manufacturer of acoustical ceiling tiles and former customer of Fibrox, decided to vertically integrate their US tile production facilities by eliminating dependence on external manufacturers of mineral fiber and building a state-of-the-art mineral fiber facility in which to manufacture technical grade fiber.
Knowing they needed expert technical advisors, AWI turned to then-supplier Fibrox, as leaders of mineral fiber technology, to enlist our expertise. Together, our companies devised a plan to close the technology gap in North American mineral fiber plants by building the first new mineral fiber facility in N.A. in over 25 years.
On Monday, October 25, 2010, the state of West Virginia rolled out the red carpet for AWI and Fibrox officials attending the groundbreaking of a state-of-the-art 35,000 square-foot mineral fiber manufacturing facility in Millwood, West Virginia.
The plant, built by Armstrong World Industries in cooperation with Fibrox Technology LP, was completed in 2012 and manufactures high quality mineral fiber. It supplies Fibrox with product under a long-term contract and also serves as the exclusive source of mineral fiber for Armstrong’s ceiling tile plants in the United States. The $50 million facility is operated by Armstrong World Industries with world-class technical, operational and on-going consulting support from Fibrox Technology LP.
